• Visit to a master of black pottery  is a fun thing to do near Merkinė in Lithuania. This rural tourism attraction takes about 1-1,5 hours. Merkinė is a historical town in the territory of Dzūkija National Park,  12 km from the holiday homestead “Dzūkijos uoga”. The town is famous for it’s observation tower,  a pyramid of Merkinė, ancient mound with a wonderful scenery and a lot of  other beautiful places to see. The headquarters Dzūkija National Park is also located in Mekrinė.

• Kayaking is one of the best things to do in Lithuania’s South. Guided canoeing tour is a wonderful rural recreation for all kind of holidaymakers. Especially for groups  with kids in a hot summer day. There are several rivers  of varying severity in the region. You can choose  from 2 up to 7 hours kayaking routes depending on your skills and wills.  

“Dzukijos uoga”   organizes guided kayaking tours in Druskininkai neighborhood. Family raft tours on slow shallow rivers are also possible. Canoeing attraction starts right from the backyard of our vacation rentals. We provide the kayaks, all safety equipment and the guides!

• Druskininkai resort and  Dzukija National Park trails are perfect for cycling and hiking in Lithuania’s South.

Holiday to Lithuania must be combined with some active rural attractions . There are several bicycling and hiking paths around Druskininkai. Some of  them lays in the surroundings of  “Dzūkijos uoga” vacation rentals. There are 11 bicycle routes and 4 hiking trails nearby. For the vacationers we organize guided hikes and  bicycling tours in Lithuania’s nature. We also provide bicycles and hiking maps. Hiking tour in a swamp is especially liked by  our foreign visitors.

•The South of the country is famous for wild mushrooms and berries. Mushroom foraging and berry picking are well known  rural attractions since long ago. We even have mushroom hunting tournament in South Lithuania.

It’s a part mushroom festival which takes part in Varėna region each autumn. Villa “Dzukijos uoga” organizes mushroom foraging activities in the surrounding pine forests. Mushroom soup cooked on fire is a must thing to do after the mushroom hunting. Get ready  for your holiday fun! First chanterelles  appears in Lithuania at the end of June.
